January again

We had a busy holiday season of travel just a week after moving, experienced the holiday illness that was going around for a few weeks, and January has been busy at work and with projects and organization around the house. My boss gave us tickets to see the UW-Green Bay women's basketball game one Saturday, which was a lot of fun.  The women are usually ranked in the top 25 in the country and often make it into the NCAA tournament. They played really well, and kept a comfortable lead throughout the game. Hot dogs were excellent, as we were told- the only negative was the poor beer selection. Maybe we didn't get up there soon enough!

We also were invited to celebrate at a friend's 30th birthday bash, which was a lot of fun with food galore, dancing to 90s music, delicious cake, a bubbly bar, and games. We were worried we might be one of the "old" people there, but it was quite the event with so many creative touches.  Happy birthday, Megan!

I bought tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld about 6 months ago during a January tour date at UW-Green Bay, so that was a nice surprise that we remembered after the holidays.  He was really funny (of course!), and we enjoyed the opening act by Ryan Hamilton as well. We were in the nosebleed section, so no good photos to share. It was quite the experience climbing up to our seats and then getting out of the crazy parking lot at the end of the show on the same night as a basketball game.  We have another local comedian's show coming up in early March, so we're looking forward to that.

Another benefit(?) of January (sometimes we have to stretch it a little!)- winter sunrises are pretty impressive. We have had a few decent snows and several frigid bouts, so the snowpack has replentised a few times. A lot of it melted in the last week, so we are starting to see quite a bit of brown. Unusual for January!
