Garden of Lights

Last night we went to the Green Bay Botanical Garden again, this time to enjoy the Garden of Lights holiday display.  We started to hear good things about the event as soon as we arrived in Green Bay, so it was on my list of things to check out.  The display is only open on the weekends during the holiday season, so we opted for a Sunday evening with the hope that the crowds might be a bit lighter.  It was still VERY busy- we had to park at the nearby Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC, "Tech"), take a shuttle bus over to the gardens, and wait in line for about 15 minutes to buy our tickets.

Nonetheless, the Garden of Lights did not disappoint!  It took us about 40 minutes to take the slow walking tour through the gardens.  We were extra slow because Scott broke his foot last week and doesn't know how he did it!  They also had horse drawn wagon tours of the lights display, but, despite the cold and Scott's bum foot, it was much nicer to walk through to take our time and get some photos.  Many of the displays were garden-themed, including birds, dragonflies, bees, and of course flowers.  One display was weather-themed with rain and even thunder and lightning...followed by a rainbow.  The gift shop was open with warm drinks, soups, and snacks, and Santa was there too.  Obviously a number of very talented garden volunteers put in a lot of hard work to get the display up and running.  Two thumbs up!
